FAIRMONT — A Marion County man faces charges for stabbing an acquaintance then asking to wash his hands, according to a criminal complaint.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department charged Nathaniel David Lewis Jr., 34, of Fairmont, with nighttime burglary and malicious assault. He was arraigned in Marion County, with bail set at $120,000.

According to his criminal complaint: On Oct. 8, police went to the United Hospital Center for a victim with a stab wound in the stomach area.

A deputy spoke to the victim and his girlfriend and they said Lewis was at their residence to drop off cigarettes and left. He returned and kicked in the front door.

Inside, Lewis and the victim got into a fight. During the scuffle, Lewis took a knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim.

When the victim told Lewis he was stabbed, Lewis asked if he could wash his hands. The victim told him to get out of the house. The victim then went to the hospital for treatment.
