CHARLESTON — The Legislature made a bit of history the afternoon of March 10, passing the budget bill, SB 152, early on the final day of its 60-day session and passing it unanimously.

The Senate made the final vote on the bill — concurring with the House amendment to the bill — just before 12:30 p.m., nearly 12 hours before the customary adjournment time. Budget negotiations typically run for several days during an extended session and last year dragged into mid-June in a marathon special session.

“This is an historic moment,” said Senate President Mitch Carmichael, R-Jackson, during a press conference later in the day.

The bill now goes to the governor.
