KINGWOOD — Preston Commissioners are asking the State Division of Highways (DOH) to consider adding passing lanes to W.Va. 7 on Briery Mountain.

The letter to the DOH, approved Dec. 4, requests two passing lanes on about a four-mile stretch from the bottom of Briery Mountain to the peak, near Terra Alta.

“This roadway is used every day by the trucks coming from the hardwood industry and other businesses traveling to the eastern part of the United States,” the letter reads. “Through the years, we have seen an increase in truck traffic. Therefore, the need for passing lanes has increased as well.”
